Dodge Challenger/Cuda.
Last Updated:

Ever since the new Dodge Charger EV came out, there has been rumors of a new Challenger. Even though Dodge explained multiple times that the new Charger replaces both the old Charger and the Challenger. Since it will be available with 2 or 4 doors.
Even before the new Charger EV, there were many rumors over the past years of a new, smaller, sporty 2 door car from Dodge. Something smaller than the old Challenger. At the time, the rumors were mentioning the name Barracuda, or Cuda. Which originally were from Plymouth, not Dodge.
However, exactly a year ago, Stellantis file a trademark for “Cuda”.
10 years ago, Dodge showed a clay model of a new “Barracuda” sports car at a dealer’s meeting in Las Vegas. As well as a convertible version of the Challenger. We know none of these ever happened. But someone at Dodge was already seriously thinking about a smaller sports car.
Now, some are talking again about a smaller Dodge sports car. And of course, there is room for one. Since the new Charger is about 16 inches longer than the current Ford Mustang. However, the new Charger coupe hasn’t set sales on fire, and Dodge might not be ready to add yet another coupe to their lineup. What they really need is a new SUV or two.
Still, a new coupe/sedan, smaller and less expensive than the Charger, would be very nice. It would also be available as both a Hybrid and an EV since it seems all new versions of the STLA platform can adopt multiple powertrains.
Something like this could not only compete against the Mustang, but also against the upcoming Honda Prelude. And could even shake up the sedan market a bit.
Wouldn’t that be nice…
