2026 Nissan Sentra.

At least it looks all-new. And that’s pretty much the best thing you can say about the new Nissan Sentra for 2026.

It is still powered by a carried-over 2.0-liter engine with 149HP and a CVT. Nothing new there. It is basically the same car as before with a new design on top. Which is probably just fine for most buyers, and a lot more than what Toyota did with the Camry a couple of years ago.

However, that “new” design still looks pretty familiar and not that much modern than the 6-year-old previous generation. The front end of the new Nissan now looks more like a Peugeot. And the rest of the car is “just fine”. At least it seems a bit more attractive than the Honda Civic sedan. Which isn’t saying much.

Nissan has been saying for a while that it would bring over their Hybrid system to the US. I guess not in the Sentra. Or at least not yet.

The new Nissan Sentra is available in 4 trims, including the return of the more luxurious SL trim.

  1. Who cares what it looks like. It still has Nissan’s terrible piece of junk CVT. There’s a reason why the “Top 10 Do Not Buy Used Cars” lists are filled with Nissan’s. It’s also why Nissan stopped putting their crappy CVT in their bigger, more expensive, remodels. Nissan needs to either go all-electric or source their CVT’s from Toyota or Honda.

  2. Not a bad “redesign” for the Sentra, though it might be too little too late for Nissan. Between this and the new Leaf, is it enough to save Nissan??? My magic 8 ball says… Ask again later.

  3. I wasn’t prepared to like this redesign, but I think it kind of works. It certainly looks modern. They need to get the hybrid option in this ASAP though, even if the problem has always been that Renault has terribly undersized hybrid power options for US buyers- and that’s where that would come from.
