2026 Nissan Ariya.

Last Updated:

Nissan has just refreshed the Ariya EV for the new model year. A few days ago, the company released an official image showing the redesigned front end. Now, we’re getting our first look at the updated rear of the revised Ariya.

While the front has received a full redesign, it appears the back of the Ariya remains virtually unchanged, aside from a few very subtle tweaks to the taillight design.

Unfortunately, Nissan recently announced that the Ariya EV has been discontinued in the U.S. market. That means this updated version won’t be coming here at all, which is a real shame.

The Ariya actually saw a bump in popularity during 2025, but most of that growth was driven by deep discounts, a now-expired federal EV rebate, and very low subsidized lease deals. The same trend affected models like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and other electric vehicles. However, some automakers seem better equipped to absorb the losses — a few are even offering new incentives or significant price cuts, such as the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5.

As of now, Nissan hasn’t released any details about additional updates to the revised Ariya beyond that new rear-end photo.

  1. In general, I can see a good design direction but there was always something about the proportions that felt a bit frumpy.

  2. There are clear visible differences in the rear end aside from the lights. The rear has been “smoothed” out is the best way I can describe it. Look at the tailgate opening and you’ll surely spot what I’m talking about. The front now looks very similar to the Leaf. They did a good job with this refresh. It’s too bad Nissan is so broke they can’t afford to keep selling this in the states.
