Honda 0 Alpha Prototype.

Last Updated:

At first, the new Honda 0 Alpha Prototype looks a lot like the 0 SUV Concept we saw a few months ago. However, when you compare the two, it is obvious they are two completely different vehicles.

The new model is not only smaller, but actually quite different. The weirdest part of the design is the rear door, which actually looks much larger than on the larger 0 SUB for some reason. The 0 SUV’s rear door looks ridiculously small…

The new model is obviously smaller and will probably be cheaper as well. Honda has not hinted at any price for the production version of the 0 SUV.

Here is some of Honda‘s official word on the new model: “The Honda 0 α is being developed as an SUV that will blend beautifully with both urban and natural environments, supporting people’s lives in every situation. Following the Honda 0 Saloon and the Honda 0 SUV, introduced at CES 2025 in January of this year, the Honda 0 α will be added to the lineup as a “gateway model” for the world of Honda 0 Series, featuring a refined design and a spacious cabin that offers outstanding occupant comfort. Equipped with technologies that embody the Honda 0 Series development approach — “Thin, Light, and Wise.” — the production model of the Honda 0 α is scheduled to go on sale globally, mainly in Japan and India, starting in 2027. “

That probably means we won’t see it over here any time soon. However, the larger 0 SUV is still on track for production starting in the US early next year. Which is good news. With the sedan following a few months later.

I still think the 0 SUV could (and should) be priced bellow the Honda Prologue in the US. The Prologue is now more expensive than most of its competition. A new 0 SUV going against the Model Y, Ioniq 5 and ID.4 would be exactly what Honda needs over here.

  1. The update looks more production viable. But its smaller revised form looks like a Kia Soul knockoff. And being a Honda, it’ll be missing a bunch of features for the price. Compared to the Prologue, this thing is going to face plant sales. How’s that for thin, light and wise: Less dealership traffic; requires incentives; and everyone decided to go elsewhere?
