2028 Chrysler 300 sedan?

The illustration above shows what many are still wishing for: a next-generation Chrysler 300 sedan. One that, once again, could find some inspiration from Bentley.

While I personally never saw it, many thought the 1st generation from 2005 resembled a Bentley. I think Chrysler could do much worse than offering a Bentley-inspired new sedan within a year or two.

Of course, a new 300 could easily be based on the STLA platform from Stellantis. Which would also mean a variety of powertrains, including a Turbo inline 6 cylinder gas engine, a PHEV, and an EV. Since Dodge is also working on a V8 Charger, a Chrysler 300 V8 could also make a comeback.

Of course, the key to all this is the ever-shrinking sedan market. Especially the near-luxury sedan. As has been the case for decades at Chrysler, value could be the savior here. Offering more for less. Something a bit flashy and impressive. The affordable luxury dream. Just like in the old Lee Iacocca days. Which is back when Chrysler was doing very, very well.

A luxury sedan like the Genesis G80 starts at around $58,000. A loaded Honda Accord with accessories is under $42,000. I would imagine an upscale-looking larger sedan, like a new 30,0 could find quite a few takes at under $50,000. The Dodge Charger R/T 4-door will start at around $52,000. That’s with a 420 HP inline 6 cylinder engine.

Chrysler could easily lower the price even more by offering a base model 300 sedan with less power.

I say, why not!

  1. in the 1980s and 1990s, NYC was filled with “black cars”, mostly Lincoln Town Cars – available to hire, corporate use, airport runs, etc. If you worked late past 9pm, you were entitled to be driven home in a black car to ensure you got there safely. Those Lincoln Continentals were SUPER comfortable and roomy. They slowly got replaced by SUVs that are less comfortable. The back seats in the MKX and its ride quality are just not as good as the Town Car. I’d love to see a taller car (like the one in this image) with the comforts of the old Town Cars. Offer it for fleet use with a modern hybrid powertrain which should be perfect for city use and stop-and-go traffic.
