2027 Hyundai Tucson redesign.

The popular Hyundai Tucson is due for a redesign very soon. And today we have new illustrations giving us a look at the 2027 model inside and out.

The new illustrations above show what we have seen from the many spy shots previously published. This is a much more angular shape, similar to the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe. Or even some Kia models.

Inside, it looks like what we have already seen of future Hyundai interiors. Which is one large central screen with a row of physical buttons at the bottom. and a very thin much smaller screen in front of the driver. Unfortunatelly, a very generic design will also be included in thre upcoming g 2nd generation Ioniq 5.

To me, that already feels a little tired and frankly, quite easy and repetitive. All new Kias start looking the same these days. And the new, very angular-looking generation Santa Fe has not been as popular (at least in the US) as the previous one.

The illustration above also shows quite a busy design, especially at the front end. It seems obnoxiously big grilles are being replaced by an infinite number of horizontal lines.

The current Tucson has been a big hit for Hyundai, with over 206,000 sold last year alone. The next one could end up being a bit too much of a gamble.

At the same time, Hyundai may feel it has no choice but to keep pushing its design language forward. The compact SUV segment is incredibly competitive, and standing still is rarely an option. Buyers now expect bold styling, large screens, hybrid options, and a near-premium feel even in mainstream models. A conservative update might simply get lost in the crowd.

Still, there’s a fine line between distinctive and overdone. The current Tucson managed to look modern without going too far. If this new generation leans too heavily into sharp edges and complex lighting signatures, it could alienate some loyal customers. Much will depend on how the final production model balances drama with everyday usability, something Hyundai has generally handled well in the past.

While illustraations from NYMammoth are great, let’s hope the final products turns out a bit better…

  1. Love the exterior. Interior seems a step backwards to me with the big screen sticking out i like the way a lot of makers (including Hyundai) have been doing it more integrted into the dash rather than a big screen that looks stuck on.

  2. Hyundai and Kia front end designs have become way too busy. They really looked better when there wasn’t as much going on. I also agree with the comment from Mark saying that inside, the “big screen sticking out” is a step backwards.

  3. I don’t think the exterior design in the illustration reflects what it really will look like. I think the next gen Tucson looks much boxier in the actual spy shots than the vehicle in the illustration.

  4. The rear taillight treatment borrows from modern Cadillac design. The steering wheel hub area seems kind of awkward-looking–kind of reminds me of the Star Wars Tie Fighter.

  5. I like the new look..and the screen is much larger and dueable.. thumbs up!! Love the two tone interior..

  7. That column shifter has to go , total garbage. No amber signals in the rear , total cheapness. Yuck !

  8. Looks good! You can tell they are using more of the Kia sportage styling and they are using the Kia telluride rear lights. I like how they have integrated the Hyundai and Kia styling together.

  9. Exterior ok, interior is awful and looks cheap! I have had 3 Tucson and 2022 has been the best ever! Keep working on it!!

  10. I don’t care for the EV look ever since Hyundai, in their infinite wisdom, eliminated the dual exhaust tailpipes. Makes the car look prissy. All foreign auto makers are going for that look. Bad move.

  11. If they really do take design cues from the Santa Fe it will be ruined. The Santa Fe is the most ridiculous looking SUV on the road right now.

  12. I personally think the current Tucson still looks 100 times better than the 2026 RAV4, but who am I…
