New Ford SUV.
Last Updated:
Ford is apparently working on a new subcompact SUV that could be replacing the Ecosport in some markets.
The Ecosport was not a big hit in the US and a new generation is probably not coming over here. Although who knows? The new model will be mostly targeted for the Indian market and will compete against other small crossovers from Hyundai, Kia, Honda, and VW.
From what we can see on the patent drawing, the front end seems like an evolution of the recurrent Ford grille. I wonder if any of these design cues could end up in some upcoming North American Ford models. Or even if the front end could preview a new grille for the upcoming Mustang Mach-e facelift.
We’ll see…
Everything that’s wrong with Ford can be summed up in the following:
How did they ever let a vehicle that looked like the EcoSport get approved for production?
How did they ever let a vehicle be sold with the name “EcoSport”?
Ford needs something like this in the US. Ford barely has anything under $30k. That’s not entry level. Meanwhile Chevy has the Trax and Trailblazer, and Buick has the Encore GX and Evista, all well under $30k.
