2026 VW Atlas.

These are photos of the Chinese market version of the VW Atlas, the Teramont.
I did post photos of the new Teramont a while ago, but apparently, these are images of the cheaper and less powerful “Pro” model.
Which by the way is such a weird and misleading way to call your base model. “Pro” implies something better or more upscale. Like in most Apple products. But somehow, some genius at VW decided a few years ago that for them, “Pro” means basic and cheaper.
At least in the US, the VW ID.4 has a new “standard” base model. Then the Pro. However, there are still more Pro trims above Pro. Like “S”, and “Pro S”.
The Teramont is produced in China for the local market. The Atlas is built in Tennessee for all other markets including North America, Mexico, the Middle East, Russia, and Africa.
We have already seen many camouflaged spy shots of the new VW SUV, and the profile isn’t really a surprise. But the front end is. It looks like nothing I had expected. All I can say is that at least it looks different. And there is no huge ghastly grille which is a big improvement. At the same time, there is plenty of shiny plastic trim all over that new front end. Like if the piano black interior trim had escaped and invaded the exterior.
Besides the obviously new front design, the profile looks a lot like a cross between the current Atlas, the new Buick Enclave, and the Toyota Grand Highlander. it would basically be impossible from the side view to tell what this is.
From the photos above, you can already tell the new Atlas will be getting the giant center-screen tablet that is just stuck there, looking like it doesn’t belong with the rest of the interior. Just like in the ID-Buzz, the new European Passat, and Tiguan. And all other new VW models coming out.
As far as we know, the new Atlas will still use the good old 2.0 Liter 4 cylinder Turbo. VW now claims they will sell Hybrids or maybe even PHEV models in the US, but since it takes them decades to change things, it will probably be too late to offer a Hybrid or PHEV Atlas in the US.
We should be seeing our US Atlas trim pretty soon…
Imagine living long enough to witness Volkswagen making dreadful copies of Kia instead of the other way around. Presenting the all-new 2025 Volkskia Sorentowagen!
How could VW be so shortsighted to not have a hybrid program? Then again, neither does GM.
Oh, wow! That is vile! “Change for the sake of change!” The original and facelift looked loads better!
Wow VW! I loved your vehicles for many years but this Temu Telluride Dupe is the worst yet!
Just throw away the whole production team! This is sad.
Ford did it with the work truck base Lightning. Maybe it makes a little more sense there.
VW left the Russian market upon its invasion of Ukraine……
