French sports car brand Alpine is getting a series of new models ready. After the small A290 based on the new Renault 5 EV, they will introduce a couple of new SUV models, of course. The prototype in the photos above is the upcoming A390.
Alpine also has a sedan, a coupe, and even a convertible scheduled.
As we mentioned earlier, the Alpine brand is rumored to enter the US market by 2027, for some odd reason. It seems they will mainly be competing against Polestar, and that brand is currently having some trouble.
Of course, they also mention Porsche. But really. Just like Polestar realized, trying to compete with Porsche is quite something. A similar lineup and good cars are not enough. At these high prices, people also buy the brand name. And Porsche has a fantastic name brand you can always show off to your friends, neighbors, and co-workers, with no explanation necessary. Everyone knows what a Porsche is.
A Polestar? An Alpine? No matter how good the car is, that’s a lot of explaining to do.

The new A390 will come with 3 motors and 5 driving modes. At almost 183 inches long, it is about 6 inches shorter than the Porsche Macan EV. And almost 8 inches shorter than a Polestar 4.
