Alfa Romeo Stelvio.

Last Updated:

Alfa Romeo is getting ready to replace both the Stelvio SUV and the Giulia sedan. The computer illustrations above seem to match the patent images we saw last March. Giving us a perfect idea of what the next-generation Stelvio will look like (It is actually quite amazing).

I still think the black plastic below the 3rd side window is pretty awkward looking and just shouldn’t be there at all. But who am I…

It looks like the new Stelvio will arrive later than expected. As Stelantis is currently revising their EV plans. It seems the Stelvio was planned as an EV. However, the STLA platform is it based on can also acomodate ICE or Hybrid powertrains, just like the new Dodge Charger. Instead of releasing the EV and waiting for the ICE or Hybrid models to come out later, Stelantis has decided to launch all versions at once. This means a delay, even if the EV trim is basically ready to go. It is now rumored to start deliveries in September or October 2026. Or about a year later than previously expected.

The current Stelvio is pretty far from being a hit in the US. While its best year was its first full year in 2018, with 12,000 sold in the US, that number went down to 5338 last year. And 2365 so far this year. It makes you wonder if a new one is even worth it. I remember that after the slow-selling Giulia sedan came out, they had high hopes for the SUV version in the US. Stelvio was seen as the savior of the brand.

Not only is a new one desperately needed, but it will take a fortune to actually let people in North America know that a new Alfa is coming. And that the brand is still around in the first place.

  1. If you aren’t going to bother checking your spelling and grammar, at least give someone else access to go in and fix it.
