2026 Kia EV8.

Kia is currently developing a larger EV sedan probably called the Kia EV8. It is scheduled for 2026 and will be based on Kia/Hyundai’s new IMA EV platform, which will replace the current E-GMP architecture.
The new sedan will be getting an even larger battery pack than the current EV9, a new 113kWh unit good for at least 435 miles.
Of course, something like this reminds many of the cool Kia Stinger sports sedan, and will probably replace it in Kia’s future lineup. With an expected maximum power rating of over 600HP, the new EV8 will be much more powerful than the Stinger ever was. (Although less powerful versions will be available as well)
The Stinger was priced from around $ 37,000 to around $ 52,000 when it last was on sale in the US a couple of years ago. Assuming an EV8 will have to start at a lower price than the $57,000 EV9 starting price, the new sedan could effectively replace the Stinger after incentives.
I think no matter what, it’s great to see car makers interested in sedans and not just larger and larger SUVs. A sleek and upscale EV sedan is fantastic news. By the time it comes out, the new EV8 could also compete with the production version of the Chrysler Halcyon concept we just saw, as well as new larger EV sedans from Nissan and Infiniti, also scheduled for next year. However, the new EV8 might not make it to the US. Kia had plenty of trouble convincing people to buy their expensive Stinger when it was on sale. Even if things have changed in the EV world, where they have no problem charging up to over $ 75,000 for the EV9.
It makes you wonder if Hyundai is also working on a larger Ioniq 6 sedan, doesn’t it…
