Rivian R2. More photos.

Rivian obviously went for a “Mini R1” look when designing the new smaller R2 SUV. Which will probably prove to be quite popular.
It is about the same size as the most popular Non-pickup vehicles in the US, the Tesla Model Y and Toyota Rav-4. At $ 45,000 to start, it will be priced right against the Model Y. And almost the same as a Rav-4 Prime which starts at around $ 44,000.
2 years before the start of production is a long, long time to wait. By then, who knows what will be out there? For is also working on a much cheaper EV platform, and they could have some sort of Bronco Inspired EV SUV as well. Toyota’s new EV platform will be ready as well and anything looking close to their recent FT-3e concept could shake up the market. GM could finally decide to bring their really cool-looking Buick Electra E4 to the US. And who knows if the base price will still be $ 45,000 2 years from now or later. There is also no date or price for the cool smaller R3. It is heavily based on the R2 and might not be that much cheaper…
You could basically lease a new car today and jump into an R2 a few months after production starts when your current lease is over. This is quite a long time…
