2026 Jeep Compass.

The current Jeep Compass is now almost 8 years old. We now finally hear bits of news rumors about the next generation.

The new model will be built in Italy, or Canada as well for the North American market. The new Jeep Compass will be based on the medium version of the STLA platform from Stellantis. A platform already used by the all-new Peugeot e-3008 and Opel Grandland. Even the medium version of the STLA platform is larger than the current Compass and the next generation is rumored to grow by over 5 inches.

Of course, an EV version will be available but a Hybrid as well, since the STLA platform can accommodate both. The engine is rumored to be a new 1.6 Liter engine.

In related news, Stelantis CEO Carlos Tavares also recently mentioned a $25 000 Electric Jeep for the US. This sounds weird and borderline impossible, since the current cheapest Jeep EV is the European Jeep Avenger, starting at over $ 35,000 for the EV model. The Avenger is smaller than the Compass and is not coming to North America. Still, Mr. Tavares claims a $25,000 Jeep EV is coming to the US “very soon”. “In the same way, we bought the 20,000 Euro Citroen e-C3, you will have a $25,000 Jeep very soon”.

That would be nice but I’m not sure how. Unless they are planning a super cheap EV version of the new Jeep Compass just for us…

Sales of the 8-year-old Compass are still pretty decent with over 51 000 sold in the US last year alone. Which is better than the Toyota Corolla Cross, and I can see why the next Compass could be an important new model for the brand.

Currently, the Jeep Compass starts at around $26,000. The next and much better generation will surely be more expensive. And maybe, just maybe, Mr. Tavares was given by the Gods a secret recipe to build a new Compass EV for $25,000. Who knows…

Or is he talking about a super cheap new Leapmotor model from China with Jeep badges? Stellantis did sign an agreement last year with Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor to create a joint venture. Stelantis owns 51% of the new venture and plans to sell Leapmotor models in Europe next year. Is this what we are talking about with the new “$25,000 Jeep EV”?

Let’s hope not…

  1. I suspect this could be a new generation Renegade, still marketed here in Europe, but really old now. It could be based on the new ‘samll entry’ platform, like the new C3-Aircross and new Opel/Vauxhall Frontera and next to come Fiat Multipla (name to be confirmed). The platform allows for electric or mild-hybrid powertrain and would allow such low prices. Unlike the Avenger, this platform also allows for longer cars (around 4.30 meters for C3 Aircross and Opel Frontera vs < 4.10 for the Avenger), more in line with small cars in the US.

  2. Most likely they added a few inches of bumper to make the Avenger “big enough” for America.
