2026 VW Tiguan.
Last Updated:
The current VW Tiguan has been around in the US since 2017. And it’s about time for something new, especially since it already looked pretty old back then.
VW unveiled an all-new generation Tiguan last year for the European market. A new model isn’t coming here since VW still insists on offering only a longer version. This is why we always have to wait until the longer VWs are ready to see them in North America. Like the VW ID.Buzz.
Since we’re not getting the European Tiguan, our next generation will be shared with the new Tayron L for the Chinese market (Pictured above), just like the US used to share its Passat with the Chinese Passat and not the European one a few years ago.
And of course, it does look more modern than the old Tiguan, but not by much. To me, the ID.4 still looks better than this. A cleaner design that started production over 4 years ago and still looks more modern.
As far as the powertrain, I suspect VW will use the same thing as the current Tiguan. That means the usual 2.0 Liter. The Chinese market is also getting a smaller 1.5 Liter Turbo.
And of course, no Hybrid or PHEV are mentioned, in true VW fashion…
VW just feels irrelevant. They all look cheap and plain. They have terrible reliability and service.
