New Cadillac XT5.
Last Updated:
Here are a few more photos of the newly redesigned Cadillac XT5. This is, so far, another Chinese market-only Cadillac.
The current generation XT5 came out in 2016 and looked just fine. Except for the interior which already seemed dated and not very upscale back then.
Of course, the new one does look more modern and has a vastly improved interior. One that tries very hard to look like the Cadillac Lyriq interior. However, I am really not impressed with the new Cadillac XT5. At least in China, the only powertrain is a 2.0 Liter engine. And the exterior just looks current and rather invisible. It still doesn’t seem as modern as the Lyriq, and its interior is also not better than the Cadillac EV.
With a starting price of around $58,000 in the US, the Cadillac Lyriq is also just around $3000 more than the base version of the current XT5. The Lyriq has also become a better seller for Cadillac than the XT5. And the upcoming and more affordable Cadillac Optiq will probably become even more popular, and will actually be a lot cheaper than the XT5 after incentives.
I think it might just be too late for a new XT5 in the US. It would have been fine 3 years ago, but now it’s just OK.
