Cadillac Eldorado.

No, you are not dreaming. I am…
Of course, the picture above is just an illustration of what a possible large future Cadillac Coupe based on the Ultium platform could look like.
Cadillac has released photos of two of its upcoming models, the compact Cadillac Optiq EV and the larger 3-row Vistiq. That is on top of the Lyriq, the Cadillac Escalade IQ, and the super expensive Celestiq. Except for the Celestiq, all these new Cadillac EVs will be a bit more expensive than the current ICE models they are scheduled to replace but not by that much after various incentives.
We already know 2 new Cadillac EV sedans are coming, probably sometime next year. Although we could see something later this year. But how about a coupe? A large one. Something that could only be called a Cadillac Eldorado.
Sure, the 2 door coupe market is almost down to nothing these days. Mercedes replaced 2 older coupes and convertibles with just one, the new CLE. BMW is rumored to do the same soon by replacing both the 4 series coupe and the e8 series with one model. And Audi won’t be replacing the A5 coupe and convertible at all.
I don’t know, but using the upcoming Sedan EV platform to create a new large-door coupe doesn’t seem like the most expensive thing in the world, does it? And I don’t mean something super exclusive and ridiculously priced over $ 300,000 like the Celestiq. I mean something that stands out and isn’t afraid to shout “Cadillac” for a price above the Mercedes CLE which starts at $57 000. Something truly luxurious for under $ 100,000. Is that impossible?
I’m afraid the super-expensive and rather weird-looking Celestiq will not do much for Cadillac’s image and bring Cadillac buyers to the showrooms. A limited appeal large 2-door coupe might not either.
Wouldn’t it be nice?

While the Cadillac Ciel and Elmiraj Concepts never saw production, the really cool 1999 Evoq Concept became the XLR production car in 2003. 15 460 were sold over its 9-year production run.
I guess it’s time to wake up…
