Cadillac CT6.

Last Updated:

The Cadillac CT6 was introduced back in 2016. The design was fine but a facelift in 2019 actually made the car look much better.

The CT6 was a great driving car. But sales were less than fantastic and GM pulled the plug in North America in 2020.

However, a second generation has been on sale in China since last year. Looking just fine with a much nicer interior than the previous model.

And yet, it seems a bit of a missed opportunity to design a more expressive large Cadillac sedan. The illustration above shows a design with a bit more personality than the real 2nd-generation Cadillac CT6.

Cadillac seems to be unable to come up with truly inspiring designs lately. The best thing I’ve seen in years was the older Coupe Concept they recently showed us. Something they had been hiding for years for some odd reason. And it does make all their current models look really bad. (which is probably why we never saw it before).

Cadillac is indeed working on two new sedans based on the Ultium platform. Let’s just hope they are not as insipid as their current products. And find a way to inject more personality and presence.

  1. Fantastic car !! I personally don’t understand why all the American automakers have dropped all their sedans and coupe models ?!?!? Don’t they know that not everyone wants a huge SUV !?!?🤷‍♂️

  2. A CT5 coupe should be next and a CT6 redesign would be a great additive to the line. Get away from the electric toys that are being forced down everybody’s throat and maybe we can come up with a great car.

  3. The Cadillac CT6 is a beautiful car , and Cadillac is beheaded without it in the North American Market .

  4. The Cadillac folks are idiots not to offer this beautiful CT6 here in the USA. They need such a beautiful luxury car . Unfortunately I gave up owning Cadillacs since they decided to become a sport car company instead of a luxury car company. IAs a result I just purchased a beautiful Genesis G90 with great modern technology and a luxury ride that unfortunately Cadillac seems to have walked away from its original mission of offering luxury cars to consumers.

  5. Because crossovers are more expensive to produce and they have to higher profit margin than a sedan does. Even though there’s plenty of people who want sedans, the auto makers know that those lumbering, top heavy beasts are what they have convinced buyers that they need.

  6. We need a refreshed flagship sedan in North America as well as a realistically sized coupe. All of the automakers have seemed to have forgotten about tall or large people except Dodge with the challenger.

  7. I own a first generation CT6 and absolutely love it. Best Cadillac I have owned. Unless Cadillac decides to bring the CT6 back, sadly it will be my last caddy. I prefer a larger sedan over an SUV.

  8. Gm has lost there way Period! Cadillac isn’t the true luxury car company that it’s supposed be and now when you the line up of all there cars, including Chevy and Buick they have this copycat front design where all the headlights are on the bottom of the car and they have what I call is closed eyes look when you see it and they have lost there touch in what true design really is in there vehicles.

  9. I love my 2017 CT6. I would like a newer one. But they are so hard to fine with low mileage.
