This short video will show you almost everything you need to know about the new Cadillac Optiq.
While the Optiq is not as modern as so many cool illustrations I’ve seen (and posted) about a possible smaller Cadillac EV SUV, the rather busy design is growing on me a bit. I think this could be something that actually looks pretty impressive in person. It is also not that small, being longer than a Tesla Model Y or a Toyota RAV-4.
So far, the interior seems very impressive. Also quite impressive is the $54,000 price which includes AWD, a 19-speaker sound system, and Super Cruise (and possibly a panoramic sunroof). That is before any incentives which means an effective price of under $45,000 for most buyers in many states. Which is actually cheaper than a similarly equipped Cadillac XT4.
I think this could be quite a hit for Cadillac. Especially with a possible cheaper 2WD version coming later.
With a 500% increase in sales over last year, the Lyriq EV is now Cadillac’s second best-selling model this year (Behind the Escalade), so far, with 5800 units sold in Q1 2024. All other Cadillac models have seen a decline in sales compared to 2023.
The cheaper Optiq will be “all the Cadillac you need” for most people, and I think it could easily and quickly end up being the brand’s best-seller.
