Cadillac Sports Coupe.
Last Updated:
Cadillac just unveiled a few days ago their new “Opulence Velocity Concept“. Which shows their future of all-electric performance.
Of course, the concept is pretty stunning, however, Cadillac is showing us something that will never ever be built. We will be lucky enough if a new Cadillac logo from the concept makes it into future production models.
Cadillac has actually a long history of sporty concept cars. Back in 2002, we saw the impressive-looking Cien. A crazy 750HP V12 concept car that of course never happened. A couple of years ago they had the stunning InnerSpace concept, something that looked like a Syd Mead design. And again, this was just too crazy for any production version.
That same year there was a race car called Project GTP.
It seems that for some reason Cadillac has always been thinking about making a sports car. However, the closest thing that ever came to production was the Cadillac XLR which was based on the Chevrolet Corvette.
I guess now they see Porsche making tons of money with their sporty EVs and they want a piece of that lucrative pie. The illustration above shows what a future Cadillac Sports car based on the Ultium platform could look like. Or a production car with the intent of the Opulence Velocity concept, without the stupid name.
However, a 2-door car is not the best way to make money these days, even an expensive one. Porsche’s success with EVs comes from the 4 door Taycan sedan. Although a new Boxter EV is right around the corner and we’ll see how popular it gets.
What Cadillac would need is a 4-door sedan with a similar styling to the illustration above. Something that could really compete with the Taycan, with the coupe shown above to complete its lineup.
Something I will show soon…

“Cadillac is showing us something that will never ever be built.” Vince – you’re constantly showing us computer renderings of vehicles that will never ever be built.
