2025 Tesla Model Y.
Last Updated:
These new illustrations show what the revised Tesla Model Y for 2025 could look like.
These look pretty realistic and match the various spy shots we’ve already seen of the modified Model Y for the new year. However, we’ve never really seen anything about the new front, and that part is a complete guess here. I guess many assume it will have a light bar like the Cybertruck and Cybercab, but who knows?
The interior, as shown here, is expected to be the same as the revised 2024 Model 3. And also includes a much-needed smoother ride and hopefully a tighter build. I do have friends who know Tesla and they all complain about rattles popping up after a while. Even if the cars felt pretty tight at first. (It is also a known issue that many have experienced and something that seems to have improved with the 2024 Model 3.)
Unlike the Model 3, the revised Model Y is also rumored to get a new larger battery at least as an option. The new unit would be about 10% larger than what is currently offered.
At least in China, the revised Model Y could also be offered in a longer wheelbase version with a real 3rd-row seat. This means 6 or 7 seats could be available (6 with captain-style chairs). That could broaden the appeal of the Model Y in the US as well. Since Tesla has nothing to offer between the Model Y and the $80,000 Model X.
The Model Y came out 5 years ago. Some kind of a refresh is badly needed especially after the 2024 revised Model 3 which now has a better interior and is more comfortable to drive.
The Tesla Model Y is still popular, but after 5 years things are starting to fade a bit. And crazy Elon’s current radical political “career” isn’t helping Tesla’s image around the world. It also seems Tesla is the last thing on his mind these days.
Over 385,000 of them were sold in the US last year. So far in 2024, that number shrunk to under 220,000. It also lost ground in Europe where it went from being the best-selling car last year to number 6 in 2024.
After 5 years, every car model needs a little something new. However, new lights and Model 3 interior might not really be enough to keep things at such a high level for the Molde Y. The competition isn’t sitting still either. Especially in China where it seems, there’s a new “Model Y competitor ” every week or so.
Good luck…
I wonder what Elmo will remove next to make this $5 cheaper? Headlights… Tires…
