Tesla Model S/X.

A few months ago Telsa mentioned the Model S and X would be “getting some love” later in 2025. Today we have a better idea of what “love” means.
The Model S and Model X have received a few small changes, after 13 years. The interior that was new for 2019 is basically the same except for the addition of the ambient light gimmick. Something people seem to require these days, for some reason. Tesla also claims a slightly longer range and a smoother suspension.
As you can see, the new blue color called “Frost blue metallic” is nice. However, it is also a $2500 option. And the wheels have been redesigned. But there are still all black no matter what style you pick.
And finally, the Model S and X now cost $5000 more than before. At these prices, the Tesla Model S is not more expensive than a Lucid Air Touring. Even if you add options.
The Model S and X have not seen anything new since that new interior in 2019. Sales had peaked from an amazing 90,500 units in 2022, to under 16,000 last year. With just 3000 units sold so far in 2025. It seems the 13-year-old model would need much more than a new color and wheels if it really wants to stay around.
The Model Y got an all-new interior and many more improvements and sales are still down. This means that even a brand new Model S would not actually improve the current situation at Tesla. The lack of long-term new models is very worrisome. And that’s on top of Elon Musk’s behavior.
Lucid sedans are getting more and more affordable these days. And a brand new Polestar 5 luxury sport sedan is right around the corner.
Since these are seen as updates, it looks like the Model S and X will be untouched for another few years. If ever.
Good luck…
