Cadillac Eldorado Convertible.

A new Cadillac Eldorado is not in th eworks at GM. However, we already know Cadillac has been working on 2 new EV sedans based on an updated version of the Ultium platform. A platform designed for a mid-sized sedan would make a great start for a large 4-seater coupe or convertible. Of course, it would have to be large and be called Eldorado. And please, nothing ending with “IQ”.

This would of course be a small niche market. If the coupe market isn’t healthy these days, the convertible market is almost dead. Although Mercedes still decided to offer a convertible version of their new CLE Coupe, and it looks really good.

The last big luxury convertible I can think of the the previous generation Mercedes S-Class convertible, based on the stunning coupe design. On sale from late 2014 to 2020.

With a possible new Eldorado coupe and convertible, Cadillac would have to abandon their crazy idea of making $ 340,000 cars like the new Celestiq. A ridiculous idea that will seem even crazier a few years from now. A new Eldorado convertible should cost a bit less than its competition, which is getting pretty rare these days. Like the $106 000 Lexus SC Convertible. Or the $ 101,000 BMW 8 series convertible. (Both are being killed very soon). And it should be roomier than both of these cars. There should be plenty of space for at least 4 adults.

There is very little chance of seeing something like this. Or even any Cadillac convertible. And probably zero chance they’ll name anything Eldorado again.

And yet. Why not…

  1. Beautiful automobile. I’d want it in Absolute Red with white leather interior with red piping

  2. Agree, a sleek new version, revival & rebirth of the infamous Cadillac Eldorado to rival the best of the best ~ is a splendid idea ~ {only yes, offer the car in gas {or hydrogen or plasma fusion in addition to an EV version} ~ but, do make the car & do something extraordinary & make the price point competitive ~ it can be done ~ so more people could enjoy this finely-designed example of automotive art & be drawn to purchase & be in awe of marvel that is the Cadillac of today~ I’d have to come into an unforeseen windfall or wait a few years at present to hope to be able to acquire one ~ but, the re-emergence of the infamous Eldorado would peak the interest of many & let’s go q step further & suggest that there should also be a ‘Biarritz’ version offered, as well~ Simply stunning & an elegant design & concept that I believe would be extremely popular & sought after~!! ~In my humble opinion…

  4. …& offer it in holographic ‘Iced Pink’ w/a Cream Puff Leather Interior w/pink piping & rosewood trim & holographic ‘Iced Emerald’ & ‘Iced Tea’ to distinguish the car further & give it that extra curb-appeal~!! šŸ’ž

  5. I’d like both ICE & EV powered versions. Pick/choose depending on whether I want quiet, instantaneous power without pollution or a gasoline powered car for fast refueling for cross-country drives. My ā€˜73 Eldorado is a hugely thirsty 8.2 liter powered luxury cruiser.

  6. The so-called “American Dream” that this car once represented has long died in the eyes of a less naive American consumer. That illusion is long gone, and American design and industry cannot restore that fantasy, either in one’s imagination or the physical aspects of steel and rubber as it’s evidence.

  7. Stop wasting your time on some plastic computerized mess every computer aided design when go down the road looks exactly the same from a plastic bumper rolls all the way down to honda civic

  8. All I have to say to everyone do you think Elvis would buy one of these plastic electric traps today not. They better make another 57 Eldorado brougham again from scratch ,it can be done. Now that would be different and don’t forget the chrome which cadillac stood for. They have the blueprints hidden away

  9. What you show is a beauty. Why do you tease us like that? I know I could not afford to buy one but I sure like to see something like that on the road, it beautifies America.

  10. That is just lovely. I don’t know why u all show use these pretty cars and don’t make them. Everyone don’t want trucks. Thats what made cadillac great big luxury cars. If it wasn’t broke don’t fix it. And do have the price so high that ever can’t afford it. .the more u sale the more money you make.

  11. U forgot to say. U see how the 76 Eldorado sold. And people still want them. A full size cadillac conv. And stop trying to be like BMW and Mercedes. Be different, thats what sales. Give it a chance, put a few out there and see what it do. I bet it would put cadillac back on top.

  12. I owned a couple ELDORADOS IN THE PAST. BRING BACK ELDORADO WITH HARD TOP GASOLINE ENGINE. I WILL BUY A NEW ONE.
