2027 Cadillac CT5 sedan.

While the second image is an illustration, showing what Cadillac‘s new CT5 could look like, the top photo could be the real thing.
It was from a video showing GM’s design center shot about a year ago or so. The clay model in front is a revision of next next-generation Cadillac Lyriq. However, the one behind it is more obviously a new sedan. Showing an evolution of Cadillac‘s current design language.
Cadillac has been hard at work on 2 brand-new EV sedans based on the Ultium platform. As recently as yesterday, Cadillac confirmed the aging CT5 sedan will live to see another generation. One that will not be an EV. After announcing the new XT5 already sold in China, will also be coming to the US next year.
I’ve driven the current CT5 a couple of times and was unfortunately not impressed. The V6 version is, of course, pretty smooth, but nothing amazing or special at all. GM’s 2.0 Liter is OK, but again, not what most Cadillac buyers would expect in a luxury car. I guess some people would still rather have that than a super quiet, smooth, and powerful EV powertrain.
Since GM hasn’t been working on a new ICE platform, the new CT5 will probably be based on the current car. And might not actually look all new. This is what Cadillac did with the CT4 years ago. Which was a reskinned ATS. And still using many body parts from the old model.
This is probably what the next CT5 will be. And just like the current one, it will be nothing special. With fewer than 15,000 of them sold in 2024 (Vs over 28,000 units for the Lyriq EV), GM probably doesn’t want to spend too much on a new CT5.
The other 2 Ultium sedans are probably almost ready to go as well, and it will be interesting to see if Cadillac decides to sell them in the US at all, or keep them for the Chinese market…
