Should Cadillac offer a wagon again?

We’ve all heard that GM will indeed bring a next-generation CT5 sedan with a gas engine to Cadillac showrooms. However, that probably won’t happen for a couple of years. I personally think one way to make the next-generation CT5 stand out would be to add a wagon to the lineup.
Of course, “wagon” is still a dirty word in North America. Especially with car makers who usually don’t take any chances. And I actually understand, as these cost quite a bit of money to design. And car companies are primerly in the business of making money.
Still, there might be a way to keep R&D costs to a minimum and offer something new. Mercedes is still offering a raised-up AWD version of their E-Class wagon in the US. However, they price it at a crazy $78,000. Or about $16,000 more than their equivalent SUV, the GLE, and of course, claiming the GLE is much more popular.
Most other manufacturers have given up on selling wagons in the US, including Volvo.
The current Cadillac CT5 sedan starts at around $50,000. Which is actually pretty reasonable for a mid-sized sedan from a luxury brand. I really think that if Cadillac could come up with a decent-looking wagon for about $2000 over the price of the sedan, it could find an audience.

Back in 2010, Cadillac did offer a wagon version of the CTS. And it looked great. I had the opportunity to test drive the V version of that wagon for a week, and let me tell you, I will never forget the experience.
Both the wagon and coupe versions of the CTS were canceled when the new generation came out in 2014.
