Nissan could be working on a new Sports Coupe.

As we all know, Nissan is in deep trouble, as it has been for a while. However, they have been introducing many new models. Including the new Leaf, Murano, and Sentra. And more are on the way, like a brand new Rogue and an Infiniti sedan.
Ivan Espimosa has been mentioning multiple times a new sports car that would be more affordable than the Nissan Z. The current Z starts at an almost affordable $43,000. Sure, it is much more than the $31,000 Toyota GR86. And more than the $32,500 Ford Mustang. But the V6 Nissan Z is probably a more refined car than both. And it has a good old-fashioned smooth V6.
Its price also means there is plenty of room for a cheaper model like the one Mr. Espinoza has been mentioning. It would be a rebirth of the old Nissan 200/240SX we had around for decades.
It seems everyone is waiting to see how the new 2026 Honda Prelude will perform. If it does well enough, it looks like Toyota is ready to launch a new Celica pretty soon. And Nissan could actually pull the trigger on a more affordable two-door coupe.
The first Nissan 200 SZ came out in 1979. Replaced by the 240SX in the US in 1988. Although it was still just called “Silvia” in Japan. The 240SZ saw another generation and disappeared from our market in 1998.
Maybe thre is still a small market for these affordable coupes?
