2027 Hyundai Tucson: more previews

The very popular Hyundai Tucson (over 234,000 sold last year in the US) is expected to receive a full redesign very soon. And today, new illustrations give us an early idea of what the new 2027 model could look like.
The images above closely match what we’ve already seen in several spy shots published over the past few months. (It already seems we’ve seen hundreds of these…)The next-generation Tucson appears to adopt a much more angular shape, similar to the bold design introduced on the latest Hyundai Santa Fe. Some of the styling cues also seem inspired by recent models from Kia.
Inside, the cabin design looks very much like what we’ve already seen previewed in upcoming Hyundai interiors. The dashboard will be dominated by one large central screen, with a row of physical buttons positioned underneath. In front of the driver sits a very thin and much smaller display, creating a clean but very minimalistic look.
Unfortunately, this rather generic interior layout is also expected to appear in the upcoming second generation of the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
The illustrations above also show a cleaner lookk than most recent renders. It also looks quite a bit retro. The current Tucson has been a huge success for Hyundai, which makes the upcoming redesign something of a gamble.
At the same time, Hyundai may feel it has little choice but to keep pushing its design language forward. The compact SUV segment is incredibly competitive, and playing it safe rarely works. Buyers now expect bold styling, large digital displays, hybrid options, and a near-premium feel, even in mainstream vehicles.
Still, there’s a fine line between distinctive and overdone. The current Tucson managed to look modern without going too far. If this new generation leans too heavily into sharp angles and complex lighting signatures, it could alienate some loyal customers.
Much will depend on how the final production model manages to balance dramatic styling with everyday usability, something Hyundai has generally handled well in the past.
While the illustrations look great, let’s hope the final production version turns out even better.
