2024 Buick Electra: new spy shots…
Last Updated:
This is quite a generic GM shape. Sure, it could be the upcoming Electra EV. Which will be the first electric Buick. Supposedly is closely related to the Cadillac Lyriq. A Buick version of the Lyriq if you will.
But this also looks like it could be related to the Chevrolet Equinox EV.
Although the Buick does have a very short rear end, more like the Cadillac. One thing is for sure, it won’t have the striking profile of the really cool-looking Electra X Concept we saw a few months ago (white car). Which is really too bad. Since it would have made the Buick stand out quite a bit more against its Chevrolet and Cadillac cousins. A missed opportunity here. Unless this is something else…
Inside, it looks a lot like the recent Chinese market Buick models we’ve seen recently. With its very large curved screen. Which is even offered in the new compact Envista.
Between the basic $42 000 Chevrolet Blazer EV and the $63 000 Cadillac Lyriq, there’s plenty of room for a new Buick EV. Which will end up competing with the new Acura ZDX.
Hi Vince,
Are you sure this isn’t the NG Buick Envision as an EV? Automotive News says that the Envision will be replaced in 2026, but GM Authority says a new Envision is due in 2024. The vehicle in your photo appears to be the same basic size as the present Envision, just with the new “shark” face of Buick. (Remember, in the 2021 CES show where GM teased a bunch of EVs, they showed two Buicks, including one very close to the Buick Electra Concept. So I don’t think this is the new Electra at all.)
I think you could be right. Although I did compare it to the current Envision, thinking it could be a mid-cycle facelift, and it’s not the Envision (position of the rear view mirror, side window, etc…) At least not the current one.
The current generation is starting its 3rd year of production. A new one in 2024 seems pretty early.
Hi Vince,
Love all your great work. This looks like the Buick version of the Chevrolet Equinox EV, not the larger platform that the Lyriq and Blazer EV are on. It has the same door handles, roofline, etc. as the Equinox EV.
It could also be an US version of the recently released Envista in China, which is even smaller, with a more formal SUV rear instead of the coupe profile. It looks small.
If it Durant match the Envision, maybe it’s the long-awaited Buick Enspire?
