2027 Audi A7.

These illustrations show a good-looking new Audi A7 sedan coming up next year. However, they also show a “more of the same” design direction.
The next-generation Audi A7 will not be a hatchback like the current and previous generations. Since it will actually replace the Audi A6 sedan. The current A7 will be effectively replaced by the upcoming Audi A6 e-Tron hatchback and wagon.
As mentioned earlier, all new Audi EVs will use even numbers, while odd numbers will designate ICE models. As such, this new A7 is expected to ride on a very similar updated version of the current A6 platform. Powertrains are expected to be similar as well.
As usual, the new larger Audi sedan will be competing against the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 series. Currently, the Audi A6 sedan starts at around $58,000. Which is the same price as the new BMW 5 series and a bit less than the new Mercedes E-class sedan.
I get that the current A6 sedan will henceforth be known as the A7, but that doesn’t preclude the possibility of a hatchback, which might just be known as the A7 Sportback or something to that effect, much as the A6 wagon is known as the A6 Avant.
Are we witnessing the death of the combustion engined A7/RS7 Sportback? It would be a very, very sad outcome. That legendary design will be missed a lot.
