Mazda 3e.

We talked about Mazda coming up with a new EV sedan called the Mazda 6e a few days ago, since the name 6e has just been trademarked in Europe as well as an official logo.
While a new larger electric Mazda sedan competing with the VW ID-7 or the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will be great, a smaller and especially, cheaper model would be pretty fantastic. Something like an EV version of the Mazda 3 compact. We might see the Mazda 6e next year, that would mean anything else would come later, if ever. By then we will have a new generation Chevrolet Bolt based on the Ultium platform. A Kia EV3 and a possible Hyundai Ioniq 3 or Ioniq 2. The new VW ID.2all will also be out or right around the corner. Ford is also working on a new much cheaper EV platform with smaller and more affordable EVs. And the elephant in the room, the new compact Tesla will also join the smaller EV party.
A smaller Mazda 3e isn’t such a crazy idea, and the segment will be quite busy in the next 2 or 3 years.
I wonder if it will offer a range-extender model. They’ve been working on a small rotary engine for a while now, and offered it in the MX-30 electric before cancelling it. I assume what’s changed between that and an upcoming 6e would have more to do with the batteries, software, and a chassis built for EV systems.
