2027 Dodge Stealth.

Last Updated:

Dodge will apparently end the production of the current Durango for the 2027 model year. Its replacement would use the name “Stealth”, for some odd reason.

The illustration above shows what the upcoming Dodge Stealth could look like.

Production of the all-new SUV would start in 2027 in Canada, and the new SUV would be slightly smaller than the current Dodge Durango, which could still be a large 3-row SUV. However, it is rumored to seat only 5. At 201 inches, the current Durango is quite large and longer than the Kia Telluride, and about the same size as the new Toyota Grand Highlander. Even if a few inches shorter, the new EV could still easily fit 3 rows.

Of course, the new Stealth would be an EV based on the STLA Large platform from Stellantis. However, it could also be offered with a gas powertrain, since the 2025 Dodge Charger based on the same platform will.

By that time, there will be a few more new 3-row EV SUVs to compete against the new Stealth, like the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 9.

Just like the Challenger, the “Durango” name is not expected to survive Dodge’s new lineup. Which is really too bad. Since there is just nothing wrong with it and it is still popular.

The Durango sold over 69,00 units last year. Its third best year since 2005. Quite an amazing feast for a generation that came out in 2010.

The “Stealth” name was used from 1991 to 1996.

The Dodge Stealth was a sports car built by Mitsubishi and based on the Mitsubishi 3000GT. However, I always thought the American-designed Dodge version looked much better.

Both models were amazingly available with pretty much all the tech you could dream of in a 1990s sports car. Like a Turbo V6 engine. AWD, and even 4-wheel steering.

  1. Hundreds of thousands of words in the English language to choose from, and they can’t pick another name… 🤡🙄

  2. All of these decisions coming out of Stellantis corporate are like nails in their own coffins. Afterall, the American brands are the only ones that are profitable within the company. And that company has MANY: Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, DS, Citroen, Peugeot, Lancia….

But here’s the bad decisions: losing the names; going EV, going round and non-descript in its styling (Americans like big and tough looking – with real headlights). Sorry Carlos – your Dutch team has brought you ANOTHER failed decision. Maybe you should reconsider selling the American brands off.

  3. Not another SUV. Nobody needs or wants another SUV. There’s a lack of small sports cars in a lot of these companies. This name would be perfect for a small sports coupe electric with a small injury cost into the electric sports car market. Not another SUV. Nowhere. Does anyone use the word stealth when it comes to SUVs?.

  4. Totally agree need to sale the company back to American an watch an learn how to build American cars ev may work in you country you got rid of Chrysler brand Plymouth an now the dodge challenger stick with your alfa Romero Eropen cars suck will never buy another peace of crap

  5. The CEO is said to be replaced. I don’t think their products are that bad to be honest. Yes, the Hornet should have been its own design and Chrysler should have been a priority for additional models. They could have used DS underbodies for a new Chrysler. It is also time for a new Wrangler model.
