Tesla Model S.

The illustrations above show what a second refresh for the Tesla Model S could look like.
That would be the laziest design scenario. Whereas Tesla would just add the exact same changes they just did on the Model Y. Which is pretty unrealistic. Most illustrations we saw of the 2025 Model Y before it came out showed a revised version with the new 2024 Model 3 redesigned front end and rear lights.
As it turned out, these were all wrong. Tesla chose instead to make the Model Y look more like the CyberCab. I really don’t think they will just add Model Y lights to the Model S and call it a day.
The news of upcoming revisions for the Model S comes directly from Tesla, through its VP of Engineering, Lars Moravy:
“The upgrade a few years ago was bigger than most people thought in terms of architecture and structure. We’ll give it some love later this year. Everyone has a little place in their heart for the S and X. They are not going anywhere anytime soon. “
This is great news for the fans of the 13-year-old model. “some love” is pretty vague and could mean anything. A brand-new design is not expected but who knows?
It is probably another refresh for one of the oldest cars on the market today.
The Tesla Model S price keeps changing, and it is currently at $80,000. At this price, it is a loaded AWD model with a 410-mile range. However, you still have to pay extra for any color other than grey and a non-black interior.
This currently puts the Model S directly against the base trim of the Lucid Air. The Tesla also comes standard with a glass roof and a better sound system. And more. However, leasing one is about $300 more a month than the Lucid.
Sales are lower than they used to be but apparently still around 16,000 units last year. Which is still better than the Lucid Air and even the Mercedes S-Class with just under 9000 sold in the US last year.
An upgrade would surely put the old Model S and X back in the news. And probably boost sales numbers a bit. Unless more and more potential buyers keep being turned off by crazy Elon Musk far far-right political views of the world.
Things have changed a lot for Tesla in the past few years, and they’ve gone from being the coolest car to own to one of the most controversial brands. With more and more owners ashamed of owning one. This is a unique issue no other company has.
This could become Tesla’s main problem. Something a refresh or even an all-new design for the Model S and X will never be able to fix…
