2026 Jeep Compass.

Last Updated:

Jeep released a whole series of new teasers for the upcoming release of the 2026 Jeep Compass. And I have never seen a worse teaser campaign than this.

Until now, I thought teasers were supposed to show a few small bits or shapes of the upcoming car. These obscure blurry shots basically don’t show anything at all. Why even bother? I guess this is Jeep trying to be cool. And it’s not working.

Jeep is working on an all-new Renegade model as well, which will be Jeep‘s most affordable EV in the US. That Renegade will, of course, be smaller than the Compass, and the next-generation Cherokee is also due soon. I would think the computer-generated image shows the Renegade and not the Compass, but who knows…

The all-new Compass will come out later this year in Europe first, with production scheduled to start in Italy. While the US version could be built in Canada starting in 2026. And this is where things might become a bit more complicated these days, since we now have huge tariffs on imported cars. Stellantis has already mentioned that the Compass could be late in North America. Since production at the Canadian plant has been up on hold. If production ends up moving to the US, it will also be more expensive.

The current Jeep Compass is the second generation that came out in 2016. This means it will be about 10 years old when replaced in the US by the new one. And yet, sales were up last year with over 96,000 units sold in the US. Almost 85,000 already this year.

The new Compass is part of an all-new Jeep lineup that is coming soon. Which will include the all-new Renegade and its $25,000 EV version. The new Recon is still scheduled to be introduced very soon. There is also a mysterious “mainstream utility vehicle” on the horizon. Whatever that means.

However, the whole industry is being disrupted because of these new tariffs, and who knows what we will be getting over here.

  1. I do not understand why jeep puts so much emphasis and attention all the time with the damn compass, yet they want to stay true to the lineage & flaunt the “since 1941,” then focus on the CHEROKEE, that’s the second oldest model & nameplate. A TRUE Jeep. Grand Cherokees were introduced in 1997 on the Lois & Clark Superman show with Dean Cain & Terri Hatcher. Their PR team is stupid.

  2. Two things – First, that top pic shows two associates in the middle of a robotic welding skid. That would never happen in assembly… and from an OSHA and safety perspective should never happen. Way to put people into dangerous spots for a photo Op. I hope they locked and tagged out the equipment at least. Second, that photo of grouved plastics. Ever wonder why cars got so angular and overdesigned? Its because you have to put a crease in to strengthen thinner sheetmetal. Its because they’re making it cheaper quality and lighter. Now the same thing with plastics – Toyota’s Camry, Honda’s HR-V and now this… thinner plastics, reinforced by grouves that reduces flexing.

  3. How will production be more expensive if it is moved to the US? Doesn’t Canada also have a union? Plus, Canada already caved to tariff demands. EU will be the most difficult to deal with.
