Cadillac Sixty Special.

The “Sixty Special” was one of these very old, super luxurious Cadillac models. I guess these days that’s what the new Celetiq is. Starting at $340,000, it definitely qualifies as an extremely expensive Cadillac.
However, that price puts it right against Rolls-Royce and above most Bentley models. And I think it’s a big mistake.
Over the past decade, the Sixty Special was based on other Cadillac models like the Sedan Deville. And didn’t have its own specific design. A new model could.
The last generation available was based on the late 80s and 90s Cadillac Fleetwood. Itself a fancy version of the regular FWD Cadillac Deville produced at the time. A fine car, but not one of Cadillac’s best efforts. That model was mostly called the “Fleetwood Sixty Special”. Which is quite a mouthful. The Fleetwood name was dropped altogether in 1993.
GM’s Ultium platform is very modular and can be used on various models, that it a perfect fit for a high-end Cadillac Sedan. One that would be priced at around $100,000. Competing against Mercedes, BMW as well and Lucid. The Ultium powertrain is smoother and quieter than anything Cadillac offered over the years and can produce more power as well.
It doesn’t need to cost over $300,000 or look as weird as the Celestiq to be a true, top-of-the-line Cadillac…
