2026 Jeep Cherokee.

The “current” Jeep Cherokee came out in 2014 and was discontinued last year. But an all-new one, based on the Stelantis STLA “large” platform is right around the corner.

The STLA Large platform will also be used for the Jeep Wagoneer S and Jeep Recon. As well as the new 2025 Dodge Charger among others. The Cherokee will obviously be smaller than all of these. Although still larger than the upcoming STLA Medium-based Jeep Compass.

Apparently, an official announcement is expected before the end of this year, with production starting next year. While it will be built in Italy, the US model will be built in Toluca Mexico, next to the Jeep Wagoneer S and Recon.

Since the STLA platform can be used with ICE and Ev powertrains, it seems the Cherokee could be competing against more other models than ever before. From the RAV-4/HR-V crowd to even the Tesla Model Y and the upcoming Rivian R2.

A new Cherokee has huge potential. Of course, last year’s sales numbers were pretty low as expected, with only 19,000 units sold. But it was still around 90,000 in 2021. A brand new generation offered with ICE and EV powertrains could be more popular than ever…

  1. “While it will be built in Italy, the US model will be built in Toluca Mexico, next to the Jeep Wagoneer S and Recon”. How do you know?

  2. The previous Cherokee was way too small, and the introduction of the 2nd-gen Compass completely cannibalized sales for the past few years. This looks very promising if they upsize it to be closer to the GC than the Compass, and finally give it appropriate and modern powertrains.
