Chevrolet Corvette Sedan.

Last Updated:

There have long been rumors about a roomier 4-door version of the Chevrolet Corvette. Over the past decade, GM has been thinking about expanding the Corvette brand. But so far, never has. Last year, there were a few new rumors about GM creating a Corvette “Sub-brand”, which could have included a sedan as well as an SUV.

As we know, nothing has happened since, and there has been no new word on such a blasphemous vehicle being planned. However, this would pretty much follow what Porsche did years ago with the Panamera and Cayenne. And especially the Taycan. A 4-door electric Porsche. So why not, I guess? A Corvette SUV above Chevrolet could end up being popular and very profitable for GM.

It would, of course, have to be based on a version of GM’s Ultium platform and compete directly against the Porsche Taycan. Something with 4 real doors, however, still very low and not that roomy. The new 4-door Corvette could also be less expensive than the “over $100,000” Taycan. Which wouldn’t be that hard to do. And still bring quite a profit.

Yes, an Ultium-based Corvette with 4 doors will be blasphemous to many. However, that 4-door Mustang Mach-E many thought of as a “fake Mustang” is actually now outselling the “real” Mustang.

There were also rumors of new models under the “Camaro” name. Again sedans and SUVs were mentioned. And again, all EVs. Which really didn’t make much sense since these SUVs would be competing against other Chevrolet models like the Equinox EV and Blazer EV. At least the Corvette SUV would be something sportier and much more expensive.

At the same time, an “Escalade” sub-brand was even mentioned for the Cadillac brand. Again, something we’ve never heard of again. I guess this would have been a series of glitzy and ostentation new SUVs smaller than the current Escalade. However, we have since seen the new Escalade IQ and other EV models like the Vistiq and Optiq. And there seem to be no other versions of these planned so far.

Maybe, just like some future EVs these days, they have all been pushed back a year or two. And not really canceled altogether.

I really don’t think any of these names could be used as what they call a “sub-brand”. They can still come up with a new super sporty expensive Corvette-influenced SUV and call it “Corvette something”.

And a new Camaro or two could be the same. Just like Ford did with the Mustang Mach-E.

Who knows…

  1. Better that they resurrect some other fabled Chevy nameplate that hasn’t been used in years. The whole Blazer/TrailBlazer name appropriation has been a confusing one for buyers.

  2. OK, Vince – we’ve had enough of these “what a modern interpretation of [insert vehicle name] could look like” stories and images. Almost zero chance of any of them actually happening – so what’s the point? Are you lacking in material to post?

  3. Build It, we need powerful V8 coupes It seems like only the Germans are build powerful V8 coupes. We also need Mercedes S class fighters from the American car companies come on GM, FORD and CHRYSLER.

  4. Build us a American made luxury Sedan that competes with MB, BMW, Lexus. We will buy it if it’s good and powerful

  5. That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard in my life Corvette is a muscle car not a grocery getter and not a family car

  6. Cadillac makes a powerful V8 muscle car that’ll run with Mercedes and BMW that is still sexy as hell

  7. I would agree with CX. My GM dealer loaned me a Trailblazer while they were working on my C8 Stingray. The entire time I was driving it, I was so confused. What was it? It wasn’t an offshoot of a Blazer. It wasn’t close to an Equinox. Chevy is just confusing people. How do they expect brand loyalty that way?

  8. The Corvette is an iconic American true sports car. It’s one of a kind. To start to make a Corvette sedan is sacrilege. DO NOT MAKE THAT MISTAKE. IT WOULD BE AN INSULT TO CURRENT AND FORMER VETTE OWNERS!!!

  9. Corvette Stingray is synonymous with V8s, speed and big bang for the buck. As for a four door , bring it on !

  10. You got to be kidding me! Why would anyone even consider this idea it would take away everything a Corvette represents. No

  11. GM destroyed the Corvette brand with the C8. Now they are doubling down. How about resurrecting a new version of the C1 and C2 Corvette? They would sell like hot cakes.

  12. Let the Chevrolet Corvette & Chevrolet Corvette Stingray stay the same. Cadillac is fighting hard to compete against Mercedes Benz BMW AND Audi and are doing very well . Cadillac The Standard of The World are standing very strong

  13. I can’t wait that iscput on the market I’ll buy it. Is there a waiting list?

  14. There already is, or was, a 4 door Corvette. The 2d generation Cadillac CTS-V. Just re-tool.

  15. 🐑 Lambo had their 1000 + HP V12 Fuck Truck, the LM002. Yes Vette, expand that family.
