This is an update to the Cadillac Coupe de Ville illustration I posted last week. Now showing what a convertible could look like.
The Coupe de Ville was a very popular Cadillac model for decades, many years ago. Long before the smaller Seville or more modern Cadillac CT6 or CT5 sedans, the big De Ville Cadillac coupe and sedan were the bread and butter of GM’s luxury brand. The 2 door Coupe de Ville was available as a convertible as well.
While the last Cadillac Coupe de Ville was produced in 1993, it hadn’t been available as a convertible since 1970. The 2 door Eldorado was the only Cadillac Convertible available for many years starting in 1971.
These were all gargantuan automobiles that would have no place and few buyers today. However, GM’s Ultium platform is very flexible and can be used for a small car like the next-generation Chevrolet Bolt to the new GMC Hummer. A large coupe and convertible could definitely be an option.
And it wouldn’t be the only new big American coupe. About 3 months ago, Stelantis introduced the new 2025 Dodge Charger EV, which will be available as a 2-door coupe or a 4-door sedan (both with hatchbacks). And these are very large cars! At over 206 inches long, we are talking about cars that are only a couple of inches shorter than a Mercedes S-Class. A very large 2 door coupe indeed.
I think there might still be a market for a new roomy Cadillac Coupe and Convertible. Something impressive for those who don’t want an SUV. Cars are more expensive than ever and a $100,000 large Cadillac coupe or convertible wouldn’t be that crazy these days. And a bargain compared to the $150,000 Eslcalade IQ or the goofy $340,000 Celestiq.
We know Cadillac is working on 2 new Cadillac sedan models based on the Ultium EV platform. Let’s hope of of them is a big one.
What a stunning vehicle. V-12/16 anyone? Why not out Europe, Rolls,Bentley and Maybach? We seem to have a plethora of stars that could afford something like this
The new Cadillac Coupe DeVille & Convertible would be awesome 💯%+ outstanding magnificent Cars by Cadillac. Beautiful Car’s this would be a dream come true. The market is out there for these Cadillac’s and I think they would sell very well in the Automobile’s Industry
