Cadillac Eldorado Coupe.

The good old Cadillac Eldorado Coupe disappeared back in 2002 when sales had drastically come down to just 5661 units. A third of what they were just 3 years before. It took 7 years for Cadillac to come up with another coupe with the 2009 CTS Coupe. A striking-looking car, but of course, not an Eldorado. A much smaller and sportier version of a 2-door Cadillac coupe. And that also wasn’t that successful.

We have seen a few fantastic 2-door coupe concepts from Cadillac. Like the Elmiraj or Ciel. These would have made great new Eldorado models. But that never happened. Instead, we now have now are more and more SUVs, year after year. Since that’s what people actually buy these days.

If there were to be a new Cadillac Eldorado would of course be based on GM’s Ultium platform. Since GM has nothing else currently for new Cadillacs. A super quiet and fast Cadillac coupe with well over 300 miles of range would surely attract a few people. It might not sell as well as their SUVs, but it would basically be a giant advertising poster for the brand. Something I’m afraid the $340,000 Celestiq won’t be. It’s not relatable to anyone except a few billionaires looking for a cool new toy.

We will soon see what the future new Cadillac sedans look like. As far as we know, they will, of course, be Ultium-based. However, a recent rumor mentioned an updated, more upscale platform called BEV Prime. Both new sedans will have a fastback profile.

A big coupe based on the larger sedan would be a welcome addition to the historical brand. And of course, the legendary “Eldorado” name is ready to go

  1. The General has a reasonable platform for Chevy & Buick. Not the best but reasonable. You figure how the American people have been brainwashed by the big 2 , number 3 is no longer an American Company. By down sizing every vehicle which is absurd, Cadillac is by far a joke. There is no Futuristic vision .anymore. You can take your little fake Cadillacs and evaporate. Nothing more than overpriced Chevy / GMC’S. The proud moment for the General has disappeared.

  2. Coupes are a hard sell and I’m not really feeling the design of the vehicle in the illustration. A large sedan with knockout styling would be a more feasible choice to carry on the “Eldorado” name.

  3. Americans would love a new coupe sedan ! We’ve been waiting for for ford or GM to come along with one , ford with a r-bird , Chevy with a two door chevelle or impala , and of course Cadillac with a Seville or eldoraxo Y, hell even stellantis want to dig out of the hole it’s in bring back the imperial ! C’mon a little imagination , let’s go!
