Future Chrysler New Yorker.

Last Updated:

We already know Chrysler is working on an all-new sedan based on the STLA platform from Stellantis.

They have of course shown us the gorgeous Halcyon concept a few months ago. However, unlike previous STLA concepts like the Dodge Charger, Jeep Recon, and Wagonner S, the Chrysler concept doesn’t seem like a close preview of a production car at all. Especially with its futuristic space-age interior and doors.

I previously posted a few illustrations of possible future Chrysler Imperial sedan as well as an Imperial coupe. The illustration above shows what a future Chrysler New Yorker could look like. A car smaller and cheaper than an Imperial would be.

The first Chrysler New Yorker was produced in 1940 and the last one in 1996. Through many generations, it went from a giant luxury sedan to a much smaller FWD model based on Chrysler’s LH cab forward platform.

Of course, a new EV sedan based on the STLA platform could be anything Stellantis wants. RWD, FWD, or AWD.

The Halcyon concept is actually weird since it is an enigma. the production car could look like anything. I think Chrysler could do worse than a retro-futuristic with a few older design cues.

We already know the first new Chrysler in ages will be a sedan, why not something with a cool personality? I really like the Halcyon, but I think a translation to production would be really hard to do.

Who knows…

  1. Wow, either they’ve been building them for 946 years or you need to do some proofreading

  2. Now this is a design that’s much needed in the Stellantis portfolio, bravo!!! I wish there was something this beautiful rolling around it would be a hot seller. Unfortunately, with the American brands languishing, the CEO is willing to take blame but isn’t moving quickly on allowing them to bring forward models people want.

  3. From the age of 21 I have been driving Dodge Chrysler Jeep products. I am very disappointed it’s the way things are going lately. Now that I know my late 50s I was looking for my last new car purchase, prior to my retirement. Although the new charger looks intriguing and has a great design, I am a little skeptical. So far the new platforms seem to be a little too upscale and unreliable. Let’s get back to the basics Dodge Jeep and Chrysler. The new Grand Cherokee looks great but it’s not the prior generation as far as reliability in price. Looks like I’ll be keeping my 2019 Grand Cherokee and my 21 scat pack Challenger and saving my money. Where is Lee iacocca when you need him 🤔

  4. Wow, I didn’t know that Chrysler has been building cars since the Roman Empire. They probably built the chariots used by the more than famous, infamous Nero and Caligula, good company indeed!

  5. The Chrysler Imperial is a beautiful car always has been. Chrysler should bring it back along with the New Yorker. America can compete & we should & not let the foreign market take over. Chrysler can do it & I believe it will sale well

  6. The new New Yorker should be the reboot retro fuselage body styles of the late 1960s and the early seventies and the next generation 300s(so should be the Imperial sedans) The Chrysler division is never the same without Iacocca. Chrysler should be saved for it’s centennial anniversary. Think about it Stellantis!
